What do we know about most hiring managers? Well, most of them are very busy people. They probably have more on their plate than most people could finish in a day but they’ve learned to do it by finding short-cuts. By necessity, they have to be quick decision makers.
The cover letter may contain a brief introduction of the applicant and his characteristics that he thinks can contribute to the well being of the company. If you fail on the simple writing of a cover letter, then your chances of getting the job would dwindle to zero. Your chances would be crushed even by simple mistakes.
One thing you should remember is that an administrative cover letter must act as your own personal advertisement. Don’t be shy about putting your best foot forward. Sell yourself and your skills to your prospective employer. While you can’t do that right in front of the employer before the interview, your administrative resume should be able to do it for you.
Inject Personality. The guy or girl who has the task of reviewing the resume submissions usually goes over dozens of resumes in one sitting. Since most cover letters are bland and boring, injecting a little bit of personality will instantly make your submission stand out. Don’t be too personal as to appear unprofessional.
